In May, in accordance with the revised Funds Settlement Law, Brastel registers a license as a Fund Transfer Service Provider Type II (Kanto Finance Bureau Director No. 0016).
In July, the "My Payment" E-payment method expands its locations: the Brastel Card can now be recharged at Lawson stores all over Japan.

In March, Brastel starts using LiveChat: back-end online support software that makes it easier for Brastel service representatives to respond to customer inquiries in real time via Facebook and other social media. At the end of March, Brastel starts implementing various measures against the spread of the coronavirus among staff, their family members, and all others who have a connection with the company, to secure the health and welfare of everyone.
In April, Brastel launches a new face-to-face subscription method for Brastel Remit customers that speeds up the verification process at all company branches. On the Telecom side, the Haneda Airport Immigration Center awards Brastel a contract to install telephone facilities for use with the Brastel prepaid card.
In July 2020, Brastel adds a social media login option to its Brastel Remit app, allowing users to sign in using a third-party account (Apple, Facebook, Google) instead of creating a new one.
In October, Brastel retrospectively renews its Privacy Mark license (No. 21004490(02)).
In December, a new Brastel Remit landing page is launched, and the Brastel Remit app gets a new feature: a printable, shareable transaction history statement for tax declaration purposes.

From February 2019, Brastel adds low-cost Call Center features to the Basix business phone.
In March 2019, Brastel adds eKYC, a real-time video chat function, to the Brastel Remit app. eKYC includes functionality to authenticate users’ residential addresses. Users can now submit proof of address electronically, improving the efficiency of personal identification in the non-face-to-face registration/transaction process, and thus speeding up registration and validation time.
From April 1st, Brastel launches “My Payment,” a new way of recharging the Brastel Card. This service, provided by NTT Internet Corporation, allows customers to make paperless payments at convenience stores by displaying a smartphone barcode.
From May, Brastel brings in an affiliate system for its remittance business, thus allowing registered agents to introduce the Brastel Remit app to a greater number of customers in the foreign community.
In June 2019, Brastel launches a new deposit method: the Fast Teller Agent (FTA) system. Any cash deposit that a customer makes at a Brastel branch now shows up in the customer's Brastel Remit app in seconds.
In December 2019, following an amendment to the Telecommunications Business Law, Brastel acquires a Sales Agent Notification Number (C1916110) from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

In March 2018, the Osaka office moves to a new strategic location, Namba, which is popular among foreigners as a shopping and entertainment center.
In May 2018, Brastel opens its second branch office in Gunma prefecture, in Oizumi City.
In July 2018, Brastel is granted the PrivacyMark (registration number: 21004490), verifying that the company takes appropriate measures to protect personal information in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
New subscription and deposit methods, among other features, are added to the Brastel Remit app, making it even more useful to customers with different needs.

From October 2017, Brastel starts providing 050 Free service numbers in Japan through its distribution channels, aimed at customers who, with no mobile number in Japan, are unable to effect SMS authorization.
From November 2017, Brastel starts marketing the borderless mobile Wi-Fi (Skyberry), to corporate clients. Based on cloud SIM technology, it allows users to connect to the Internet for a flat fee.
In December 2017, Brastel launches the Brastel Remit app for easy transfers through convenience store ATMs, 24/7.

Brastel Remit creates a user website, allowing customers to register or create transaction requests online for easier, faster and more convenient money transfer.

In March 2011, the company starts full-scale marketing of Brastel Cloud, a voice solution platform service for enterprises. In cooperation with partner application providers, Brastel offers international calling from smartphones at 4.33 yen per minute (the lowest price at the time).
In August 2011, an office in Nepal is opened to provide support to customers in Nepalese.
In December, Brastel launches the Brastel SIP service, thus becoming a SIP trunk service provider.

In April 2009, in partnership with EMOBILE Ltd., Brastel as the first MVNO company for foreigners in Japan introduces the Brastel Mobile. The new service allows international calls from the Brastel Mobile and EMOBILE phones (purchased via Brastel) at rates up to 75% lower than when using phones of other carriers.
In the same year, Brastel enhances and expands the FLIP service, releasing new plans: the Plus Number to more destinations and a call-forwarding option. Brastel’s online presence is also strengthened with the creation of the "Brastel Creative" blog, as well as a presence on sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Brastel opens an overseas branch in Indonesia for customer service support and system/web development.

In January, Brastel launches an unlimited calling plan for China and FLIP Sharing, which allows the FLIP service to be used as a public phone.
In May 2008, a new office in Londrina, Brazil, is established to provide customer service support.
In June, the International Gift service is launched for Brastel Card customers. Using the service, customers in Japan can send shopping vouchers to their family and friends in countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Brastel opens its overseas branches in Sri Lanka and Thailand and customer centers for the respective languages are moved there.
In November 2008, Brastel enables ISP-free interconnection between public and Internet telephone networks.
To celebrate the 100th year of Japanese immigration to Brazil, Brastel promotes a drawing contest for children and adolescents between 7 and 18 years old. The winning design is printed on a special edition of the Brastel Card and part of the revenue is used to support educational projects.

In January, Brastel releases FLIP, an internet phone service for customers to place and receive domestic and international calls using the latest Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology.
Brastel opens its first overseas customer center in the Philippines to provide services and technical support in English and Tagalog for customers in Japan, the USA and Hong Kong.

Brastel begins 2006 by starting services in Brazil, inaugurating its Sao Paulo office in April and by opening a second branch office in Japan, in Nagoya.
In June 2006, targeting juridical customers in Japan, Brastel innovates by releasing “Brastel IP Centrex”, an IP phone service based on the ASP system. The service allows customers to use indispensable business phone functions and options such as PBX, without the need for high initial investments. Three months later, this service is rebranded as “Basix”.
The online Live Support (Japan) is launched in October, providing customers real-time assistance over the internet in both English and Japanese. In the same month, Brastel offers the PTR Recharge System, allowing selected distributors to receive payments and making it possible to recharge the Brastel Card on the spot.
The company ends the year celebrating its 10th anniversary, in December. A massive marketing campaign is announced to commemorate the event, including the drawing of 7 million yen in prizes.

In April 2005, Brastel releases its corporate plan for international calls for juridical users in Japan.
Value-added services such as International Recharge (top-up of mobile phones abroad), Credit Transfer (sharing a Brastel card credit to a new or existing Brastel card user), and International SMS are introduced and rapidly gain popularity among core users.
In November 2005, Brastel announces the creation of its cultural division, Tupiniquim Entertainment. The new enterprise focuses on Brazilian culture from different perspectives, including music, movies, architecture, design and fashion.
In December, Brastel begins activities in Hong Kong, distributing the Brastel Card mainly to Filipino and Indonesian users.

In January 2004, the company expands its business by opening up a branch office in Osaka.
With the evolution of optical fiber broadband transmissions at reduced cost in Japan, and the increasing popularity of ASP software, not only data and image is transmitted via IP, but audio as well. Focusing on this technology, in 2004 Brastel starts developing a prototype of IP PBX (a telephone switching system within an enterprise) for medium and small-sized companies.
In the same year, the company innovates by offering calls from other countries through the Brastel Card (International Toll Free Service).

In January 2002, Brastel reorganizes to become a stock company, and increases its capital to 30 million yen.
Brastel leads the market as the first General Type II Carrier (provider of international calls) with a prepaid platform interconnected with the Japanese Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) controlled by major carriers such as NTT East, NTT West, NTT Communications and mobile phone operators.
Brastel improves its customer relationship management (CRM) and switching systems in Japan to increase flexibility and stability and better track the increasing number of calls to over 200 countries and territories. This interconnection enables Brastel to use its own direct prefix numbers: 0091-20 and 0091-21. Thus from October 2002 Brastel starts providing the option to make international calls at even lower rates than before, with domestic charges included, and the convenience of one-step dialing.

In November 2001, Brastel becomes one of the first telecom companies in the world to use a paperless payment system for topping up prepaid cards at convenience stores. Developed by NTT Comware, the Smart Pit payment system uses a barcode printed on a card, instead of paper coupons.
